Jake Paul completely controlled the highly anticipated eight-round boxing match against Mike Tyson on Friday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, ultimately winning by unanimous decision. Judges awarded the fight to the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer with scores of 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73, as he demonstrated his speed and accuracy against the 58-year-old ex-heavyweight champion.
Tyson came out strong in the first round but had difficulty keeping up the pace as Paul capitalized on his youth and agility to land impactful punches from afar. Although Tyson was never in a vulnerable position, Paul’s steady output and more precise punches enabled him to maintain dominance throughout the fight.
Paul, who now has a record of 11-1 with 7 knockouts, has won his last four fights after recovering from his defeat against Tommy Fury via split decision in 2023. Tyson’s first official fight since 2005 was the match, after facing Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition in 2020. Scheduled for July, the match was postponed because Tyson had a flare-up of an ulcer earlier in the year.
This battle showed Paul’s ongoing growth as a fighter and Tyson’s lasting determination, despite his age, but in the end, youth triumphed over wisdom.
