Ralf Schumacher’s wife checks into therapy revealing ‘old wounds have been opened’

Ralf Schumacher revealed he is gay this summer, and his ex-wife stated she was unaware until she saw his social media announcement, leading her to seek therapy to cope with the aftermath.

Cora, Ralf Schumacher’s former spouse, has entered therapy after experiencing panic attacks following the revelation that her ex-husband is gay.

The former Formula 1 driver announced the news on Instagram earlier this year, revealing that his ex-wife, who was married to Schumacher for 13 years, has experienced a decline in her mental health in recent months. Schumacher is currently in a relationship with French business manager Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne.

Cora stated that the social media post was her initial notification regarding her ex-husband’s new relationship, which has led to her experiencing panic attacks. She has since shared on Instagram that she has pursued therapy, as the situation has ‘reopened many old wounds’ stemming from her divorce from Ralf a decade ago.

She stated: “To manage the experiences of the past few years, I took the initiative to seek therapeutic assistance.” The events surrounding the separation and the later divorce in 2014 profoundly affected me, and I continue to grapple with these occurrences to this day.

Cora expanded on how her health has worsened while speaking to the German outlet Bild: “Today was a difficult day for me.” Initially, the discussion with the lawyer could only occur with the assistance of a therapist. Yesterday and today, I experienced panic attacks and a racing heartbeat due to my fear of being attacked once more. “The treatment is helping to bring everything to the surface.”

Ralf’s surprising announcement in July has led to a heated conflict with his ex-wife that has intensified over the past few months. Cora’s frustration was clear as she expressed that she felt she had “wasted her best years” on the former Williams driver.

In a twist, he shared WhatsApp messages that seemed to indicate Cora was congratulating him on his new relationship with Bousquet-Cassagne before he made his news public on social media.

Cora, however, has replied and stated that she only discovered Schumacher was gay this summer after years of uncertainty regarding his attraction to men, even during their marriage.

Schumacher has received support from his son, David, who recently told Cora to “leave us alone” and also asserted that his mother has “mental issues.”

Cora has affirmed her choice to pursue therapy, stating on Instagram, “Choosing this path was undoubtedly the correct decision, as it has allowed me to finally attain understanding and healing.”
