Max Verstappen’s two-word verdict on Christian Horner and Zak Brown feud speaks volumes

During the time Mercedes was Red Bull’s main F1 competitors, Christian Horner harbored a personal feud with Toto Wolff. Now that McLaren poses a big threat, Horner and Zak Brown are engaged in a heated rivalry.

Max Verstappen nonchalantly responded that he is unconcerned about boss Christian Horner’s recent dispute with a rival Formula 1 boss.

McLaren has positioned themselves as the primary competitors against Red Bull and appear ready to win the constructors’ championship this year. Lando Norris is currently the main rival to Verstappen for the top spot in the drivers’ championship, but Verstappen still leads in their competition.

The relationship between the two teams has worsened, especially in the past few weeks. Red Bull advocated for FIA involvement in the investigation of McLaren’s wing designs, and McLaren reciprocated by calling for a probe into a device that could potentially help Red Bull bypass parc ferme regulations.

Zak Brown has consistently expressed his disapproval of Red Bull for a number of months, even suggesting a prohibition on owning multiple teams in F1. Specifically, he has focused on Red Bull’s control over sister team VCARB and claims that they have allowed Verstappen to be overly aggressive in his racing against other drivers.

During the United States Grand Prix this weekend, McLaren CEO Brown has pushed for a more thorough FIA inquiry into the device altering the front bib height on Red Bull cars. Horner has been vigorously supporting his team, willing to engage in another public argument with a rival team leader.

Verstappen was questioned about his boss’ recent verbal conflict after winning the Sprint race and securing the second spot in the main Grand Prix. As a reply, he maintained that the topic “does not excite me”.

The three-time F1 champion stated that they were simply using it as a means to quickly adjust the ride height. It wasn’t exactly McLaren itself, it was primarily Zak. Zak has a dislike for Christian, so yeah… I feel the same way in reverse, too! Yeah, that’s simply the way things are. I also have no responsibility for that issue.

I truly have no interest in this whatsoever. I don’t handle that. I observe it, I peruse it. Then I switch it off again and proceed to watch MotoGP or use the simulator.

Even though Verstappen and Norris are competing for the title, they have been able to uphold their strong friendship off the circuit. The single testing moment occurred in Austria when they crashed while battling for the victory.

However, Norris mentioned during the next race that they had conversed on the phone two times in the days after the race to resolve all issues. And, ever since then, the competition between them has remained mostly solid yet just.
