While being recognized as one of the most esteemed athletes globally comes with numerous advantages, it also presents certain challenges. This is particularly true for Simone Biles, an 11-time Olympic medalist, who is often regarded as the greatest gymnast in history.
In a recent interview, Biles discussed the challenges she has faced over the past few weeks in managing her schedule. Currently, the 27-year-old is in the final stages of preparation for the forthcoming Gold Over America Tour, also known as the GOAT Tour. This event is a concert-style spectacle that will highlight Simone’s Olympic journey in conjunction with performances by other U.S. gymnasts.
Biles mentioned that she has had limited opportunities to practice on the mat since her return from the Paris 2024 Olympics.
“Honestly, I’ve only managed to hit the gym a few times because of my busy schedule,” she shared with Anna Lazarus Caplan from People. “I haven’t been home much, but my body really needed this rest, so I can’t complain.”
In addition to her limited gym time, Simone acknowledged that she hasn’t been at home as often as she would have liked. She even missed her husband Jonathan Owens’ first game with the Chicago Bears on Sunday, September 8, because of a scheduling clash.
Biles maintained a strong presence on social media during the game and clearly relished Owens’ touchdown in his debut with the Bears.
Simone also disclosed that she is allowing her body a well-deserved respite after her achievements in Paris, where she secured three additional gold medals and one silver. Given that the GOAT Tour is set to begin soon, she required all the recovery time possible. The inaugural event of the 30-city tour is scheduled for September 16 in Oceanside, California, concluding on November 3.
Simone Biles is not just the greatest gymnast of all time; she also deserves immense recognition for managing to juggle her hectic schedule alongside her personal life.
