Sky Sports commentator Richard Kaufman was caught taking a dig at LIV Golf’s Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. Three-time LPGA Tour winner Trish Johnson was also present during the whole conversation.
Dustin Johnson recorded a 1-over 72 on Saturday, July 20th during the third round of the Open Championship, placing him in a tie for 15th after completing 54 holes. Meanwhile, Brooks Koepka carded a 7-over 78 and fell to T62 by the conclusion of the day.
The third round included both Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson in the same highlighted group. Richard Kaufman initiated a discussion with Trish during the broadcast, which seemed to be more of a jab at the Saudi-backed circuit.
“Dustin here is a 4 Aces kinda guy…” Kaufman said.
“What, poker? Are we talking like he likes a game of poker” Trish Johnson responded.
Kaufman went on to describe Brooks Koepka as a ‘Smash GC sort of individual.’ He elaborated that these were the titles of their teams.
Johnson, while acting as though he was unfamiliar with this new information, asked:
“What’s that all about? That’s not golf, what you talking about?”
“Just filing in people that may want to know,” Kaufman answered.

If you’re not familiar with it, LIV Golf has sparked a lot of debate, with some golf enthusiasts claiming that the league is being used by Saudi Arabia to improve its image. The golfers who have signed up for the Saudi-backed circuit have been closely watched by the press. Despite this, the PGA Tour has revealed that it’s in talks with its competitor, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
