Shane Lowry is currently among the frontrunners in the 2024 Open Championship, holding a score of 5 under as he plays the 11th hole in the third round. Lowry’s spontaneous nature is well-documented, and it was evident during the pivotal ‘moving day’ of the tournament.
Lowry had a conversation with a spectator after his ball accidentally hit him inside the ropes. The Irishman was quite upset and reportedly expressed his frustration to the fan, as per to Laying Up’s post on X:
“In the future, don’t stand in the middle of the f***ing fairway when we’re trying to hit, OK?”
Some individuals on social platforms have mentioned that the individual struck by the ball was a member of the press crews documenting the event.
Meanwhile, there are those who have brought up Shane Lowry’s experience in the second round, where his ball also hit a spectator but ultimately landed in a more favorable position than if it had stayed on its original trajectory.
Last Friday, Lowry found himself in a similar situation on the 12th hole when his second shot accidentally hit a cameraman. At the time, he also reacted angrily, saying the following (via Golf Magic):
“As I was over the ball I could just see you puttin’ your f***ing camera up. Just get outta the way! Just get back there! F***ing sake.”
