Amanda Balionis enjoyed a week off while Rory McIlroy competed for the U.S. Open at Pinehurst last week, but his latest major heartbreak left him needing a break from golf.
Amanda Balionis has resumed her activities at the Traveler’s Championship, while Rory McIlroy is currently taking a break from the world of golf.
While McIlroy battled it out with DeChambeau for the U.S. Open title, CBS Sports’ own Balionis enjoyed some well-deserved downtime in the Hamptons with her friends. She took a break from the perfectly manicured golf courses and shared glimpses of her beach retreat on social media, including bikini photos and quality time with her pals. However, now she’s back in action and ready to get back into the swing of things this week.
On her birthday, Balionis took to Instagram to share her dog-friendly adventures at the Fan Zone of the Traveler’s Championship, the final major PGA Tour event of the season. In her post, she expressed her gratitude to @travelerschamp for hosting @puppiesandgolf in their Fan Zone.
She went on, expressing her appreciation for the chance to support their cause and showcase @protectorsofanimals, the selected local shelter for the month. Balionis delighted in introducing everyone to Flowers, a charming three-year-old who loves giving kisses to new friends.
Amidst speculations about McIlroy and Balionis during his short break from his wife Erica Stoll, the duo has now moved past any divorce rumors. Coming back from her vacation, Balionis recently shared a photo on Instagram wearing a denim jacket with the words: “Everything’s fine, baby, baby.”
Golf enthusiasts were buzzing with speculation following Amanda Balionis’ post of a captivating photo, prompting one observant follower to label it a “revenge dress” amidst rumors of a possible relationship with Rory McIlroy. The rumor mill kicked into high gear when Balionis conducted an interview with McIlroy after his victory at the Wells Fargo Championship, their interaction seeming a bit too familiar. Adding to the intrigue, Balionis was seen without her wedding ring, causing a frenzy of gossip.
Nevertheless, any talks of a romance were put to rest as McIlroy reconciled with his wife Erica Stoll. Then, in a surprising turn of events at the U.S. Open, McIlroy’s performance faltered, allowing Bryson DeChambeau to secure his second major title.
After the competition, McIlroy headed straight to Florida to recharge and later revealed his decision to take a break from golf in order to spend quality time with his family. Opting out of the upcoming Traveler’s Championship, he aims to make a comeback shortly before The Open at Royal Troon next month.
McIlroy openly expressed his emotions: “Yesterday was a challenging day, perhaps the most difficult I’ve faced in my almost 17 years as a professional golfer,” he shared sincerely in a heartfelt social media post on Monday. “First and foremost, I want to congratulate Bryson. He is a deserving champion and precisely what professional golf requires at this moment. I believe we can all concur on that.”
Reflecting on my week, there are a few aspects that I will lament, particularly the two putts I missed on holes 16 and 18 during the final day of the tournament. However, as I always strive to do, I will focus on the positive aspects of the week, which far outweigh the negatives. As I mentioned at the beginning of the tournament, I believe I am closer than ever to winning my next major championship.
If I were to summarize my career in one word, it would be resilience. Throughout the past 17 years, I have consistently demonstrated my ability to bounce back from challenges, and I will continue to do so. I plan to take a few weeks off from the game to reflect on everything and prepare myself for the upcoming Genesis Scottish Open and The Open at Royal Troon. I look forward to seeing you in Scotland.
