CBS Sports presenter Amanda Balionis shared a glimpse of her weekend on Instagram as Rory McIlroy retreated to his Florida mansion following his US Open heartbreak.
Amanda Balionis, the golf presenter, recently shared her ‘achievement’ on Instagram while Rory McIlroy returned to his luxurious $17 million residence in Florida with his wife Erica Stoll following a heart-wrenching US Open.
Balionis, from CBS Sports, took a break from the golf course at Pinehurst No. 2 and spent some leisure time with her friends in the Hamptons. She shared pictures on social media, showcasing her bikini looks and enjoying the sun with her pals.
In a post that included multiple photos, Balionis humorously commented, “(mon)Tauk about off-week success.” This playful update came shortly after McIlroy’s near-miss, which sparked rumors of a romantic connection between Balionis and the golf star. McIlroy had missed out on what could have been his first major win in a decade.
McIlroy had a comfortable lead going into the final day at Pinehurst No. 2, but unfortunately, he stumbled towards the end, allowing DeChambeau to steal the victory. It was evident from McIlroy’s expression that he was devastated as he watched DeChambeau’s triumphant moment on the last green.
After the tournament, McIlroy decided to take some time off and went back to his home in Florida with his wife Erica. There were rumors circulating about their relationship, especially during a brief period of uncertainty, but they ultimately decided to work things out and put their divorce plans on hold. Recently, there were sightings of McIlroy and Balionis together, which sparked speculation, as she was seen without her wedding ring and offering support to McIlroy after the Canadian Open.
The speculation surrounding a potential romance between the golf stars has been completely set aside as McIlroy makes a firm commitment to giving his marriage another chance. In light of their contrasting weekends, McIlroy, visibly saddened, turned to social media to share his intentions of taking a short break from golf.
In a heartfelt post, the Northern Irish golfer expressed, “Yesterday was an incredibly challenging day, perhaps the most difficult I’ve encountered in my nearly 17-year career as a professional golfer. Firstly, I would like to extend my congratulations to Bryson. He is a deserving champion and precisely what the world of professional golf requires at this moment. I believe we can all concur on that.”
When I think back on my week, I can’t help but dwell on a couple of missed opportunities during the tournament, particularly the two putts I missed on holes 16 and 18 on the final day. However, I always make a point to focus on the positives of the week, which definitely outweigh the negatives.
At the beginning of the tournament, I mentioned that I feel like I am closer to winning my next major championship than ever before. If I were to sum up my career in one word, it would be “resilient.” Throughout the past 17 years, I have demonstrated my resilience time and time again, and I am confident that I will continue to do so in the future.
I will be taking a brief hiatus from the game to contemplate recent developments and gear up for the Genesis Scottish Open and The Open at Royal Troon. I look forward to meeting you in Scotland,” he concluded.
