Jon Rahm Survives Injury Scare Ahead Of US Open To Card Under-Par Round At LIV Golf Houston

Rahm was seen wincing at the par 3 seventh hole during the first round, but battled back to a three-under-par score at LIV Golf Houston.

During the LIV Golf Houston event on Friday, Jon Rahm appeared to be struggling with a potential injury concern only a week before the US Open, the third Major tournament of the year for men’s golf in 2024.

Rahm began his round at the par 4 third hole, where he managed to par his first four holes. However, the focus shifted to Rahm at the par 3 seventh hole. While playing the 163-yard hole, he hit a short-iron shot and seemed to experience discomfort upon impact, as he tried to walk off the pain.

Rahm had apparently been getting treatment on his foot prior to the round, but during the LIV Golf broadcast, it was mentioned that the reason for his discomfort and pain was actually a cut between his toes. Fortunately, the injury wasn’t too serious.

After completing the seventh hole with a par, Rahm went on to birdie the eighth, 10th, 12th, and 13th holes. However, he unfortunately ended his day with a double bogey on the 18th hole, which was his 16th hole of the day, bringing him back to a score of two-under-par.

After the double bogey, he managed to end with a par-birdie combination, resulting in a three-under 69 at the Golf Club of Houston. This performance placed him in a tie for 15th position, trailing leaders Martin Kaymer, Adrian Meronk, and Caleb Surratt by four strokes.

Rahm, who is competing for the first time since failing to make the cut at the PGA Championship in May, stands out as the sole player from the LIV Golf roster to secure a top 10 finish in all seven events held in 2024.

After finishing 15th on the leaderboard with a score of three-under-par on the opening day, a group of 10 other players will join me in a series of action-packed weeks on the LIV Golf circuit. Next week, we’ll be heading to Pinehurst No.2 for the US Open, where a total of 12 LIV players will be competing. Following that, I’ll have the opportunity to showcase my skills at LIV Golf Nashville the week after the US Open. And finally, I’ll be returning to my home country of Spain to participate in LIV Golf Andalucía at Valderrama. It’s going to be an exciting journey ahead!
