Rory McIlroy and Amanda Balionis full interview transcript as pair spotted hugging

Rory McIlory was interviewed again by Amanda Balionis after his solid showing at the Canadian Open, despite the pair’s relationship status being the talk of the golfing world.

Rory McIlroy and Amanda Balionis were allegedly spotted embracing following their most recent interview.

McIlroy, a renowned four-time major champion, delivered an impressive performance at the Canadian Open, finishing 13 under par. Subsequently, he coincidentally encountered CBS Sports reporter Balionis once again. Speculation regarding a potential romantic relationship between the two has been circulating in recent weeks.

McIlroy is currently going through a divorce with his wife, Erica Stoll, after being married for seven years. On the other hand, Balionis, who was previously married to former NFL quarterback Bryn Renner, has chosen to return to her maiden name and has stopped wearing her wedding ring in the past few months.

There have been claims that they are not romantically involved and simply maintain a “professional relationship”. Despite this, fans were surprised to see them reunited as McIlroy discussed his performance at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

According to TMZ, they exchanged a hug following the interview. They had been smiling the whole time, with Balionis starting off by saying: “We are now joined by Rory McIlroy, tied for the lowest round of the day. We are currently watching, do you believe that what you just accomplished could be sufficient?”

Prior to Scot Robert MacIntyre (-16) going on to secure the win, McIlroy responded: “I don’t think so. I wish it were. I had a couple of good chances towards the end. A great opportunity at 14 that narrowly missed, and also at 15. I mean, personally it would be great if it was enough, but Bob is a close friend of mine, Ryder Cup teammate, and it would be fantastic to see him succeed.”

Balionis went on to say: “You’ve had quite an eventful week. I heard that on Thursday, you played the back nine without seeing it, and then on Friday you were feeling off, but then you made a breakthrough in your swing. Can you share more about how your week progressed and how you’re feeling now? It must be a huge confidence boost for you going forward.”

McIlroy replied: “Yes, I didn’t get much practice in last week. I only managed to play nine holes during practice. My swing was a bit off, but I worked on it at the range on Friday night and made some improvements. I had a great weekend, finishing 11-under.”

During both rounds, I had the pleasure of playing alongside Tom Kim, which was an immensely enjoyable experience. I truly relish the opportunity to be out there with him. Our weekend was truly fantastic, although it may not have been sufficient, it certainly provides a solid foundation as we approach the Memorial and the US Open.

Curious to delve deeper into their camaraderie, Balionis inquired about their remarkable comfort level. She mentioned that Kim appears to be like a younger brother to everyone. In response, McIlroy humorously remarked, “He certainly reminds me of my age!”

She not only frequently communicates with him during the course, but they also collaborated on McIlroy’s endorsement agreement with the software giant Workday. The current situation has not been publicly acknowledged by either of them.
