Grayson Murray’s cause of death suspected to be carbon monoxide poisoning from his car – Reports

Grayson Murray died on Saturday, 25 May. According to the Daily Mail, the PGA Tour golfer died from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. His parents had earlier released a statement confirming the golfer “took his own life.”

Murray’s demise, as reported by the Daily Mail, is believed to have been caused by carbon monoxide poisoning. It is said that his Florida townhouse became filled with exhaust fumes from his Land Rover. The news outlet interviewed an anonymous neighbor of Murray, who stated that the golfer had left his car running in the garage for an extended period of time. The concerned neighbor allegedly heard the vehicle’s engine revving for quite some time.

According to information from Daily Mail and NY Post, authorities responded to the home of Grayson Murray and his fiancée Christina Ritchie, who was not present, at 10:49 a.m. on May 25.

A neighbor allegedly heard a carbon monoxide alarm sounding at the 30-year-old golfer’s residence. This statement from the neighbor was disclosed in the news report on May 28, while the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to release further information regarding Murray’s passing.

The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department informed Heavy via email that they are currently investigating Murray’s death. They also mentioned that foul play is not suspected.

The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department wrote in an email, released by Heavy:

“The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department is investigating the death of resident Grayson C. Murray, a white male, 10/01/1993, which occurred inside a residence in Palm Beach Gardens. The decedent was discovered on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m.

“The initial inquiry does not reveal signs of foul play. There is no apparent risk to the public, and no further information will be released as the investigation is being conducted.”

Grayson Murray’s parents say golfer ‘took his own life’

It is important to highlight that Murray’s parents issued a statement on behalf of the PGA Tour, confirming that the player tragically “took his own life.” Nevertheless, the statement released on May 26th did not disclose any specifics regarding the cause of his death.

The news of Murray’s passing surfaced one day following his withdrawal from the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas, where he had completed 16 rounds of play.

Grayson Murray’s parents Eric and Terry Murray said in a statement:

‘‘We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone. It’s surreal that we not only have to admit it to ourselves, but that we also have to acknowledge it to the world. It’s a nightmare… Life wasn’t always easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he rests peacefully now.”

Grayson Murray has previously acknowledged his battle with mental health challenges. The professional golfer disclosed his struggles with anxiety and depression, and in 2021, he also confessed to seeking help for alcoholism.

After triumphing at the Sony Open in January, Murray proudly declared that he had achieved eight months of sobriety.
