Scottie Scheffler’s group chat was blowing up after PGA arrest

Pro golfers are just like us. When something wild in their life happens, their group chat starts blowing up too.

The sole distinction lies in the fact that “something wild” typically does not end up being arrested on live television just before heading to compete in the second round of a significant tournament.

But we’re sure you can find something to relate it to.

By now, you are familiar with the narrative. Scheffler, on his way to his second-round tee time at the PGA Championship, was apprehended, later released, and went on to shoot an impressive 66. However, his chances dwindled with a 73 on Saturday, and it was Xander Schauffele who ultimately claimed the Wanamaker Trophy.

Schauffele, a close friend of Scheffeler, recently appeared on a special episode of GOLF Subpar with hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz. During the episode, he shared his perspective on the ordeal that took place last Friday. Initially, he found it hard to believe.

Scottie Scheffler is known for his skills on the golf course, but his impact is limited to the golf ball and occasionally hurting his competitors’ feelings. Despite this, he is a reliable and dependable person overall, as mentioned by Schauffele. Initially, Schauffele thought it was a joke when he heard about the situation.

However, once they realized the seriousness of it, Scheffler was released. Nevertheless, Schauffele and other professionals couldn’t resist teasing the World No. 1. Schauffele and Scheffler have a common physiotherapist, Marnus Marais, and they are part of a group chat that includes other clients like Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.

Schauffele chose not to reveal the exact nature of the comments made towards Scheffler.

Schauffele expressed that the poke was enjoyable and not intended to be malicious. He clarified that it was all in good fun. Furthermore, he mentioned that after the mug shot was shared, someone altered the name of the group chat, humorously requesting a change in plans for the following day.

Schauffele acknowledged that they encountered some difficulty in brainstorming quality content.

Schauffele mentioned that they strive to maintain a peaceful atmosphere. He also noted that Scottie is very relaxed when he’s around them. If their group teases him, he takes it in stride. However, if someone outside the group makes fun of him, they quickly come to his defense.
