Former PGA Tour star Mark Lye says ‘90%’ people in golf knew about Tiger Woods’ alleged PED use

Mark Lye, a former PGA Tour player, has recently made a startling allegation regarding the renowned golfer Tiger Woods. During an exclusive interview on OutKick’s podcast “Don’t @Me With Dan Dakich” on Monday, April 15th, Lye purportedly accused Woods possibly using utilized performance-enhancing drugs (PED) to enhance his skills throughout his career.

The golfer, who is 48 years old, has faced health challenges that made it difficult for him to participate in various tournaments over the past few years. Despite this, he managed to compete in the Masters last week and even made the cut after 36 holes.

Mark Lye recently appeared on the Dan Dakich’s show, where the host asked him:

“It was felt by many around golf – people that really know – that Tiger Woods has used ‘roids in the past or may have used ‘roids in the past?”

Replying to the host, Lye said (via Fox News):

“Yes, that is. It is except for the people in Tiger’s corner. ‘You better shut up about it.’ Nobody ever gone out like that. Nobody’s ever said that like I’m saying it right now. There’s just no doubt. And I would say about 80 or 90% of the people out there know something ain’t right.”

Woods’ representative, Mark Steinberg, refuted the accusations, stating that they were “completely untrue and baseless.” Nevertheless, Woods has not yet responded to the allegations.

In spite of being in his late 40s, Tiger Woods continues to actively compete in professional golf tournaments whenever he can. Unfortunately, he had to pull out of the Genesis Invitational earlier this year due to an illness. Additionally, he withdrew from the Masters event at Augusta last year and subsequently underwent surgery on his ankle.

How did Tiger Woods perform at  the Masters Masters 2024?

Tiger Woods experienced a challenging time at the Augusta National Golf Course last week. He began the Major with a promising start but faced difficulties as the tournament unfolded.

To secure his place in the event, he played two rounds of 73 and 72, making him the sole golfer in the history of the game to achieve the most consecutive cuts at the Masters. However, during the third round, he had his toughest performance, shooting a round of 82. This was followed by another round of 77, ultimately placing him in the 60th position on the leaderboard.

Throughout his career, he has triumphed in the tournament five times and only failed to make the cut once. In fact, he has consistently finished within the top 47 in his last 24 appearances at the Masters. However, last week proved to be a struggle for him as he ended up at the bottom of the leaderboard.

On the other hand, Scottie Scheffler emerged as the victor at the Masters, securing a four-stroke lead over Ludvig Aberg. Looking ahead, Woods is likely to make his next competitive appearance at the PGA Championship, which will be held at Valhalla. This highly anticipated tournament is scheduled to take place from May 13 to 19.
