Scottie Scheffler was scheduled to tee off at 10:08 a.m. (Eastern Time) this Friday, May 17 at the 2024 PGA Championship. However, all indications are that unforeseen events will not allow him to make the scheduled time.
Scheffler allegedly encountered a police stop while en route to Valhalla Golf Club. As per The Mirror’s account, the top-ranked golfer attempted to bypass a police officer following a tragic incident where a pedestrian was hit and fatally injured by a shuttle bus.

Scottie Scheffler has no connection whatsoever to the initial incident that led to the unfortunate death of an individual and caused significant traffic disruption with long lines of cars extending all the way to the golf course.
WAVE News, a local media outlet in Louisville, Kentucky, has contacted the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) to gather additional details. Scottie Scheffler has been taken into custody at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and is facing the following charges:
1. Second-degree assault of a police officer
2. Third-degree criminal mischief
3. Reckless driving
4. Disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic
What will happen if Scottie Scheffler misses his tee time?
According to the regulations set by the United States Golf Association (USGA), failing to arrive at the designated tee time results in disqualification from the tournament. However, it is customary to allow a grace period of five minutes. If the player manages to arrive within this timeframe, they will incur penalty strokes but will still be able to participate in their round.
Scheffler is still eligible to continue playing as per the PGA Tour website. The second round of the PGA Championship was briefly halted because of a traffic incident close to the course. The round is scheduled to begin at 08:35 a.m. (ET).
Scheffler had an impressive start in the PGA Championship, scoring a remarkable 4-under 67 in his first round. His performance was highlighted by an eagle, four birdies, and two bogeys.
