“All you gotta do is show up on time” – Tiger Woods’ reported advice to John Daly’s son after his father shows up late for warmup session

Tiger Woods knows John Daly well; the two have played together on PGA Tour courses for most of their respective careers. Thus, Woods also knows very well that Daly won’t miss his tee time even if he’s not the most punctual to warmup sessions.

Tiger Woods recently emphasized the significance of being punctual to none other than John Daly Jr., who will be partnering with his father at the 2023 PNC Championship.

On Friday, December 15, during a practice round, Woods went up to the younger Daly to inquire about his father. Golf Digest writer Christopher Powers shared the exchange on X (formerly Twitter):

“Tiger asks Little John Daly where his dad is. LJ says he’s coming at some point. ‘All you gotta do is show up on time.’ – Tiger”

Woods and John Daly have confirmed their participation in the upcoming PNC Championship Pro-Am event, set to take place this Friday. Both golfers will be joined by their sons, Charlie and John Jr., as they team up for this exciting tournament.

Tiger Woods and John Daly at the PNC Championship

John Daly and his son John Daly II have competed together in seven PNC Championship tournaments, consistently achieving great success as Team Daly.

Their debut was in the 2016 tournament, where they placed T9. They matched this result in the following year. However, in the five editions that followed, Team Daly managed to surpass these initial results significantly.

Team Daly emerged victorious in the 2021 edition of the event, triumphing over Tiger Woods and Charlie by a narrow margin of two strokes. This remarkable achievement came after their previous performances, which included a loss to Team Love (Davis III and son Dru) by three strokes in the 2018 edition, followed by a 5th place finish in 2019 and an 8th place finish in 2020.

Team Daly once again showed their skills last year, narrowly missing out on the title by just two strokes to Team Singh (Vijay and his son Qaas).

Team Woods, on the other hand, has participated in the PNC Championship only twice. They secured a second-place finish in their debut in 2021, but dropped to eighth place last year.

Team Woods is scheduled to begin their round at the PNC Championship this Saturday at 8:22 am (Eastern Time) from hole 1, whereas Team Daly will commence their round at the same time but from hole 10.
