“I count 6 missed cuts” – Fans disappointed with 6 LIV Golf invitees to the 2024 PGA Championship

The PGA of America has extended special invitations to six LIV Golf players, including Patrick Reed, Talor Gooch, Dean Burmester, Lucas Herbert, Adrian Meronk, and David Puig, to compete in the upcoming Major tournament, the PGA Championship at Valhalla. These players will be joining other participants, ensuring a strong representation of the tour at the event. While they may not dominate the field, there are numerous members who have a chance to vie for one of golf’s most prestigious titles.

The addition of these six golfers has brought in a group of highly skilled players to the field. However, it seems that fans on social media aren’t particularly thrilled about their inclusion. Some even doubt that these six will make a significant impact in the tournament, with a few going as far as saying they won’t even qualify for the cut.

“I count 6 missed cuts,” wrote one fan.

“Weak,” one fan said.

“Wow a real murderers row,” another jested.

“Now the LIVidiots will just pivot to whining about althe next perceived slight, in 3….2….1…..,” an angry fan claimed.

“All for them to lose to this guy,” was another comment.

Some individuals did not feel unhappy or disappointed with these choices. In fact, there were those who were pleased to witness the LIV stars receiving recognition at the PGA Championship the following weekend.

“That’s awesome, maybe professional golf is on the mend?” one fan asked.

“Finally a major without an *. We can enjoy it now,” another said.

“We need more LIV golfers winning majors this year,” a fan stated.

Gooch made a significant impact in the field. He expressed his disappointment over LIV Golf players being overlooked for The Masters. Feeling left out of Augusta, he suggested the tournament might not be the same without him and LIV’s top players.

Additionally, Gooch mentioned he wouldn’t participate in U.S. Open qualifiers to secure his spot in the upcoming field. Instead, he was anticipating a special invitation. Fortunately, he received one for the PGA Championship. Now, he, along with other invitees, has the opportunity to showcase his skills at this competitive level.

Padraig Harrington cautions LIV Golf players for future Major tournaments

The PGA Championship will not only feature six LIV players, but also other LIV Golf members such as reigning champion Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, Joaquin Niemann, and more. As they gather at Valhalla, Padraig Harrington has some advice for all of them.

According to SB Nation, he mentioned that their language was more unsavory compared to others at The Masters last month.

“There was quite a bit of… on the Masters… there was an awful lot of extra expletives from LIV players. Clearly, LIV players don’t get fined for expletives, and I’m not saying they’re encouraged, but they’re certainly not discouraged from doing it.”

Harrington believes in letting it all out without any reservations, and that’s something he strongly dislikes. He further expressed that he doesn’t mind if they vent their frustration by smashing a golf club, and if they choose to take it out on themselves, he considers it fair play.

However, he believes that showing respect towards the course and the fans, such as refraining from using inappropriate language, is important.
