Rory McIlroy has earned less than Scottie Scheffler’s CADDIE in 2024 after latest massive pay day

Scottie Scheffler’s caddie Ted Scott has earned some huge pay days after the American’s stunning run of form, having now banked more prize money this year than Rory McIlroy.

Scottie Scheffler is having a fantastic year in 2024, securing four victories in his most recent five competitions, including a win at the RBC Heritage.

Scheffler’s recent triumph not only made him the first player since Bernhard Langer in 1985 to win a PGA Tour event right after the Masters, but it also brought him a substantial amount of prize money.

Thanks to his exceptional performance, the American golfer has earned a remarkable $16.25 million (£13.1m) from his last five tournaments, including victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, the Masters, and the RBC Heritage. Additionally, he secured a second-place finish at the Houston Open.

Scheffler’s caddie Ted Scott could potentially earn more prize money than Rory McIlroy this season if he receives the standard 10 percent that caddies usually get for a victory. Scott’s total earnings would amount to slightly over $1.8m (£1.45m), surpassing McIlroy’s earnings of $1.7m (£1.37m).

Following his victory at the RBC Heritage, Scheffler emphasized that he never contemplated withdrawing from the tournament following his win at the Masters. “I had the opportunity to return home for a few days and celebrate,” he stated.

I didn’t give it much consideration, to be honest. I had already made up my mind to participate in this tournament as it was part of my plan, so I decided to stick to it. I mentioned this at the beginning of the week because I didn’t come here just for show or to receive congratulations.

I came here with a clear objective, although I didn’t start off very well, I managed to play some excellent golf afterwards. I do set high standards for myself, so whenever I compete in tournaments, I always strive to give my best.

I have extensively discussed the preparation required for me to perform well on the first tee, and I believe that my hard work and consistent performance have led to some successful outcomes and victories.

In terms of my mental game, I believe that over the past month or so, I have been in a great state of mind, possibly the best I have been in a long time. This mental strength has played a significant role in the positive results I have been experiencing. As an illustration, let’s consider this week’s tournament where I started off by looking at the leaderboard on Thursday. While everyone else seemed to be making birdie after birdie, I found myself struggling and being over par due to a shank earlier in the day.

I made sure to keep my cool and wait for my game to heat up. Thursday ended well, Friday felt like I played even better than my score showed, and Saturday was filled with some excellent golf.
