The Blue Monster Set To Test LIVs Best Ahead Of The Masters

The 2024 LIV Golf season resumes in Miami this week where a field boasting seven Masters Champions will tee-up on the famed ‘Blue Monster’ course.

The Masters champions consist of Phil Mickelson, Charl Schwartzel, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed, Bubba Watson, and the current Augusta National titleholder Jon Rahm.

Additionally, among the participants in this week’s competition is Captain Joaquin Niemann from Torque GC, who is currently one of the most successful players. He has been performing exceptionally well this year and is leading the Individual Championship points race after securing victories at Mayakoba and Jeddah.

The Team Championship has been held at Trump Doral for the first two years of the League. However, this year’s tournament will be held during the regular season, and players will be vying for an individual trophy for the very first time.

During last year’s event, Crushers GC emerged as the champions, thanks to a thrilling birdie by their captain, Bryson DeChambeau, on the par-4 16th hole. On the other hand, 4Aces GC claimed the inaugural trophy back in 2022.

Legion XIII Captain Rahm, as a first-time goer, will face numerous challenges at The Blue Monster, a par-72 course spanning 7,701 yards. This course is known for its water hazards on almost every hole, as well as its narrow fairways and greens guarded by bunkers.

The par-4 18th hole is particularly renowned for being one of the most difficult finishing holes in golf. It features a slender fairway flanked by water on the left and bunkers on the right. Additionally, the front of the green is safeguarded by a lake. Notable past winners at the Doral course include HyFlyers GC Captain Mickelson, 4Aces GC Captain Johnson, and their teammate Reed.

The upcoming tournament in Miami holds great potential to establish a strong momentum leading up to the Masters, commencing on April 11th.
