TGL announced the launch dates of its inaugural season in January 2025 on Monday and released the first renderings of its new stadium.
The virtual-golf league supported by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TMRW Sports is set to premiere on Tuesday, January 7th during prime time on ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States.
Unfortunately, the custom-built SoFi Center, a 250,000-square-foot venue on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where the six-team league of PGA Tour pros was competing in a fast-paced form of team golf, encountered a setback. The roof of the original tech-infused arena for golf collapsed due to a power failure, causing damage to the air-supported dome. As a result, the virtual golf league has been postponed for this year.
As per an official statement, SoFi Center is set to offer a distinctive and exclusive fan experience close to the greenery, featuring 1,500 seats encircling TGL’s playing field. The field, measuring 97 yards in length and 50 yards in width, is nearly the size of a football field. The newly revealed design blueprints for SoFi Center’s steel-supported framework have been made public.

Mike McCarley, the founder and CEO of TMRW Sports, revealed that the 2025 launch of TGL presented by SoFi is being carefully planned. To introduce sports fans to this innovative form of team golf, the first three Tuesdays in January have been marked on the calendar. January is an exciting time for fans seeking prime-time sports, and TGL’s launch will perfectly align with the start of the PGA Tour season. Additionally, TGL will benefit from ESPN’s extensive promotional efforts during their coverage of the NFL and college football playoffs.
The league’s technology integration commences with teams starting their game from real grass tee boxes. They will then proceed to play on custom-designed, virtual holes that are projected onto a massive 3,000-square-foot screen, which is more than 20 times larger than a standard golf simulator screen. As teams approach approximately 50 yards, they will transition to live action and complete each hole within TGL’s GreenZone. This GreenZone is a 22,475-square-foot short game complex that undergoes transformations between holes. To provide unique challenges for the teams, the GreenZone utilizes advanced technology, such as a 41-yard-wide turntable that rotates the green and three bunkers that alter approach angles. Additionally, the synthetic putting surface incorporates nearly 600 motorized actuators, which are part of Full Swing’s Virtual Green technology, to modify the topography of the surface.
TGL’s technology combination enables live broadcasting of every shot, teams adhering to a 40-second shot clock, all players equipped with microphones, provision of advanced shot data, and various other broadcast improvements.
