Norris encouraged despite return of unwanted issue

Lando Norris is set to start Saturday’s Bahrain Grand Prix from seventh on the grid but feels he could have secured a higher position.

Lando Norris expressed his satisfaction with McLaren’s performance during qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix, finishing in seventh place in Q3. Despite acknowledging mistakes on his final lap, Norris highlighted the team’s progress and his own improvement compared to last year’s errors.

The British driver admitted to errors at Turn 1 and Turn 4, costing him valuable time. Reflecting on his performance, Norris emphasized the importance of minimizing mistakes to achieve better results in future races.

The car’s performance improved steadily during the qualifying session, and particularly when the temperature dropped and the wind subsided, I experienced a mix of emotions. The car truly came to life.

The driving experience was delightful, as the vehicle felt exceptional. However, I failed to execute what was expected of me.

Norris praises McLaren’s position

McLaren securing the fourth row of the grid represents a significant improvement from last year when neither car made it into the top 10 during the season opener.

Despite facing tough competition from teams like Ferrari, Mercedes, and Aston Martin, Norris is feeling more optimistic about his current performance compared to the previous year.

“I am hopeful that things will be less challenging than before,” he stated.

It represents a positive beginning for our team. I believe this is crucial.

Looking back at this time last year, we were in a tough spot. We had to climb out of a major setback.

Understanding our current position allows us to identify areas for improvement and anticipate what lies ahead in the coming months. This knowledge boosts my confidence and should also boost the team’s confidence.

I believe our current position is quite favorable. It is pleasantly unexpected to see our strength. There are many areas where we can enhance our performance and move higher up in the rankings.
