WHAT’S GOING ON WITH RORY MCILROY? REPORT: “HE’S ANTSY AND BORED”

Rory McIlroy is reportedly ‘bored’ of ‘ho-hum’ PGA Tour events and is eager to begin the 2024 major season, according to this report.

Is it possible to consider that there might be something happening with Rory McIlroy?

He had a promising beginning to the year with a solid performance at the Dubai Invitational and then securing his fourth victory at the Dubai Desert Classic.

If it weren’t for one unfortunate swing at a critical moment, he could have ended his time on the European-based tour with two wins.

Shifting his focus to the US, McIlroy had a rather average performance at Pebble Beach before the notable PGA Tour event was canceled due to bad weather.

McIlroy’s performance at Tiger Woods’ Genesis Invitational ended with a T-24 finish, mirroring his previous struggles.

Despite a strong start, a double bogey and an immediate triple in the first round set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

McIlroy admitted that Thursday was far from ideal and considered Pebble a write-off. In addition to his on-course challenges, McIlroy seems to be limiting his media interviews.

It was quite unusual that he didn’t have any media engagements before Tiger’s event, considering his influence.

During the rounds, McIlroy did take the time to talk to reporters, but the discussions were solely focused on his performance on the course in quick interviews.

On Sunday evening, McIlroy did make an appearance in the commentary booth to share some advice with Scottie Scheffler.

However, his behavior in recent public appearances has grabbed the attention of numerous golf enthusiasts. Is there something going on?

In his latest Q&A series, a user of X raised an intriguing point to the reporter Alan Shipnuck.

The user expressed their concern by stating, “There seems to be something happening with Rory. Can you shed some light on it?”

Shipnuck offered his theory:

“Over the last decade the guy has won everything you can possibly win around the world: the Players, the Race to Dubai, the FedEx Cup, tournaments from China to Scotland to Canada to Korea to Ireland.

“Obviously the only thing missing is more major championships.

“Imagine the interminable wait for Rory from the end of the Open in July until the ensuing Masters in April. Torture!

“I’m sure he’s a little bored and antsy with all these ho-hum tournaments he has to slog through to get to Augusta.

“Can’t really blame him.”

McIlroy doesn’t have much time left until the first major of the year arrives.

The Masters at Augusta National has recently made a small alteration to the course, which might cause some chaos this year.

Apart from the anticipation for the majors, it wouldn’t be surprising to say that McIlroy is utterly frustrated.

Last year, he stepped down from the policy board, stating that he wanted to focus on his golf and avoid discussing LIV Golf any further.

He later mentioned feeling extremely frustrated over some of the issues that were being discussed.

It was hard to miss the fact that McIlroy’s change of heart regarding Saudi investment in men’s golf is in stark contrast to his American counterparts, including Jordan Spieth, Scheffler, and even Woods.
