Jon Rahm asks fans to ‘quiet down’ at LIV Golf Las Vegas, backfires and falters

Jon Rahm wanted peace and quiet as he contended down the stretch at the LIV Golf Invitational – Las Vegas.

Looking for a more serene golf experience? Well, that’s exactly what Jon Rahm desires.

While playing in the LIV Golf Invitational – Las Vegas on Saturday, Rahm’s caddy, Adam Hayes, kindly requested the fans to keep it down on the 12th tee box.

Interestingly, LIV Golf is known for its vibrant atmosphere, with enthusiastic fans, lively parties, and music reminiscent of Las Vegas clubs.

Surprisingly, numerous LIV Golf events bear a resemblance to the scenes witnessed at this week’s WM Phoenix Open, where alcohol sales were suspended due to the rowdy atmosphere.

However, Rahm appeared to be bothered by the noise on the 12th tee at the Las Vegas Country Club on Saturday, as captured in a video shared by @TourPicks on X:

Upon Hayes’ request for quiet, Rahm composed himself, chose a 5-iron, and then glanced back at the crowd. In doing so, he politely asked the fans to silence their cell phones, displaying signs of agitation.

Undoubtedly, the spectacle must have had an impact on him…

Rahm’s tee shot on the par-3 ended up in the greenside bunker to the right of the putting surface. However, he showed great skill by getting up and down to save par, maintaining his overall score at 10-under. Unfortunately, Rahm struggled in the final stretch, unable to secure another birdie in his last six holes.

Regrettably, Rahm bogeyed both the 15th and 18th holes, causing his overall score to drop to 8-under for the tournament. This marked his first over-par round in his LIV Golf career, finishing with a 1-over 71.

Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson emerged as the victor, finishing the event at an impressive 12-under. He outperformed Taylor Gooch by a single stroke, securing his third LIV Golf event win.
