McLaren team principal Andrea Stella has expressed his unwavering belief in Lando Norris’ potential to become a future world champion, hailing the young British driver as one of the finest talents in Formula 1.
Norris’s recent contract extension with McLaren highlights once again the team’s unwavering faith in his capabilities.
The British driver has solidified his commitment to the papaya team for the foreseeable future, demonstrating his strong alignment with their vision and his unwavering belief that McLaren provides the optimal environment to fulfill his championship ambitions.
Stella drew parallels between Norris and some of the sport’s most iconic legends, such as Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, and Michael Schumacher. She highlighted how the 24-year-old possesses similar qualities that propelled these drivers to the pinnacle of the sport.
Norris still hasn’t secured a Grand Prix victory, but Stella has been there to witness the incredible growth and development of this young talent over the years.
“Lando is definitely on par with them,” he mentioned, referring to the legendary figures mentioned earlier.
He possesses the same qualities, the same championship potential, the innate talent, the mindset, and the strong work ethic. Everything is in place and ready to go.
However, when considering champions, it is important to note that they possess a distinct quality of continuous improvement. Genuine champions consistently enhance their skills and abilities year after year.
This phenomenon can be attributed to their utilization of intelligence, strong moral principles, and the ability to surround themselves with exceptional individuals.
They are willing to go to great lengths in order to constantly improve, as the level of competition in their respective sport continues to intensify.
In addition to Norris’ exceptional skill, the Italian has consistently been amazed by his capacity to adjust, acquire knowledge, and challenge himself to reach greater achievements.
“Undoubtedly, we possess all the necessary elements, as we witnessed during Lando’s participation in the free practice one sessions with us,” he expressed. “It was abundantly clear in 2018.
“And since then, it has continued to flourish. The potential is present; we simply need to continue progressing year after year, just as every champion does. However, we are immensely delighted and fully dedicated to Lando in this regard.”
