Red Bull stars could see their ‘careers gone’ as Christian Horner makes critical changes

The 2024 season promises to bring one of the most hectic driver markets in recent history, and Red Bull will be a part of that chaos.

According to Peter Windsor, the former Ferrari team manager, the careers of both Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda could be in jeopardy if they don’t outperform each other in their intra-team battle at Faenza. They are both eyeing Sergio Perez’s seat at Red Bull by the end of the 2024 season.

Currently, Perez has one more year on his Red Bull contract, but it is expected that he will leave the team unless there is a significant improvement in his performance compared to his teammate Max Verstappen. Initially, Lando Norris seemed to be the top candidate for the seat, but he recently signed a new long-term deal with McLaren.

That decision indicates that Tsunoda and Ricciardo are the top contenders to replace Checo, if Horner decides to change his driver line-ups for 2025. However, Tsunoda has already been in his F1 career for three years, while Ricciardo is approaching the end of his career. The upcoming year, 2024, will be crucial for both of them.

During an interview with the Cameron F1 podcast regarding the situation at VCARB in the next season, Windsor expressed his interest in the face-off between Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda. He mentioned that if Yuki doesn’t outperform Daniel, it could potentially mean the end of his career, and the same goes for Daniel if he doesn’t surpass Yuki. There’s a lot at stake for these two drivers.

I believe the car will likely be of high quality. This is not solely due to Christian Horner’s increased involvement with the Visa Cash App or whatever it is called. He is somewhat connecting with the other team.

However, it is also because AlphaTauri has competent individuals and possesses advanced technology that they should benefit from. Therefore, I anticipate that the car will not be slow, which makes me excited to witness the competition between the two drivers.

The VCARB team, formerly known as AlphaTauri, is making strides towards sister team Red Bull in 2024 after a difficult 2023 season. Despite finishing eighth in the Constructors’ Championship standings, they struggled for most of the year.

However, they finished the season on a high note with four points finishes in the last five rounds. This positive momentum is anticipated to continue into 2024 as the team benefits from a stronger technical partnership with reigning champions Red Bull.
