Verstappen suffers nightmare incident during major endurance race

Max Verstappen suffered a nightmare incident midway through the sim version of the Daytona 24-hour endurance event as he prepares for the 2024 F1 season.

Verstappen participated in Saturday’s race at the GTD class of the simulation racing calendar, representing Team Redline alongside Ola Steinbraten and Gianni Vecchio. This event holds great significance in the world of simulation racing.

A few days earlier, the Dutchman had made a comeback to racing in the ‘Real Racers Never Quit’ event, which was also organized by Team Redline at Daytona. Unfortunately, an early collision during the race resulted in him finishing in eighth place.

To add to his misfortunes in sim racing, Verstappen encountered another incident when he collided with his team’s sister car.

Verstappen spins in Daytona 24 race

With 12 hours and 50 minutes remaining in the race and holding the second position in the class, the three-time world champion encountered a frightening incident with another Team Redline car, driven by Josh Thompson.

Thompson unexpectedly decelerated much faster than Verstappen anticipated, resulting in a collision with the rear of the car and causing the Dutchman to spin.

Despite the mishap, Verstappen managed to recover and skillfully led his team to victory in the GTD class.

He is scheduled to participate in sim racing once again on Tuesday, January 23rd, where his Real Racers Never Quit championship will compete in Formula 3 machinery at Silverstone before transitioning to F4 equipment for Mugello.
