24-year-old could be ‘sick and tired’ of teammate and ‘keen to leave’ by end of 2024

Formula 1 journalist Peter Windsor has admitted that he thinks Lando Norris will be ‘sick and tired’ of McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri by the end of the season.

McLaren currently boasts the most thrilling driver combination on the grid, which is a subject of debate.

According to Peter Windsor, who expressed his views on his YouTube channel, he speculates that this partnership may not endure for an extended period.

Out of all the teams participating, McLaren is the sole team to have unveiled their livery for the upcoming season.

Lando Norris has already conveyed his response and is optimistic that the team can further enhance their achievements from the previous year.

In 2023, McLaren faced a new Australian competitor after successfully outperforming Daniel Ricciardo.

Oscar Piastri, who joined from Alpine’s academy, arrived with a significant reputation, and he certainly lived up to the expectations last year.

With a Sprint Race victory and a few podium finishes under his belt, Piastri showcased his talent.

Peter Windsor has recently speculated that Norris might consider leaving McLaren due to the emergence of Piastri by the end of this year.

Despite having a contract that extends until the conclusion of 2025, he will not lack potential suitors.

Norris has consistently garnered interest from Red Bull, although acquiring him as a replacement for Sergio Perez could prove to be a costly endeavor.

Windsor thinks Norris will get sick of Piastri

Regarding the upcoming season of the 24-year-old British driver, Lando Norris, Windsor expressed his belief that Norris would become increasingly frustrated with Oscar Piastri by the end of 2024. As a result, Norris might be eager to explore other opportunities, potentially with a team like Ferrari or Red Bull.

However, if those options don’t materialize, he could consider joining a team like Aston Martin, especially if Fernando Alonso decides not to race in 2025.

Alonso, on the other hand, is expected to have a desire to continue racing in 2025, but if circumstances change, he might consider joining Aston Martin.

While Aston Martin would be interested in signing a talented driver like Norris, it is highly unlikely that he would be willing to take a step down based on his performance in the previous season.

Ferrari is also interested in Norris, considering him as a potential replacement for Carlos Sainz, who may soon sign a new contract.

Windsor’s suggestion that Norris will grow tired of Piastri seems unlikely at the moment. However, Piastri should strive to narrow the gap with his teammate this year.

Norris has never faced a partner who can truly challenge him, and if he desires to be the unquestioned number one in a team, he may need to explore other options.

Nevertheless, currently, both the team and Norris have faith in each other and believe they can achieve victories and even championships together in the future.

It would take a big change in that relationship for Norris to consider leaving next winter.
