Matthew Wolff appears to be the latest athlete to leave Nike, judging by the most recent clip of the LIV Golf League player.
It seems that Matthew Wolff is the most recent golfer to depart from Nike.
After a challenging season with Brooks Koepka’s team, he has now joined Bubba Watson’s team in the LIV Golf League. Additionally, it appears that he has also ended his partnership with TaylorMade, the equipment manufacturer.
Recently, a video emerged showcasing Wolff practicing his game during the off-season.
The footage, captured by his coach George Gankas, exhibits Wolff’s dedication as he fine-tunes his skills at Medalist in Florida.
It is evident that Wolff has made a noticeable change in his attire and equipment choices. He has opted to no longer wear any apparel from Nike and has switched from a TaylorMade driver to a PING G430.
Additionally, he is now sporting FootJoy golf shoes.
Interestingly, as of now, Wolff’s social media bio still identifies him as a member of ‘Team Nike’ and ‘Team TaylorMade’.
If this information is accurate, his departure from Nike would mark him as the most recent player to part ways with the renowned sports brand.
In 2024, Jason Day, who had previously signed a lucrative $100m contract with Nike in 2016, made headlines by becoming the first prominent golfer to switch from the swoosh brand.
Day has now embraced Malbon Golf gear and his choice of attire during the initial PGA Tour event of the season caused quite a commotion.
While explaining his decision to join Malbon, Day subtly criticized Nike by highlighting instances where he found himself on the first tee alongside another golfer wearing a strikingly similar outfit.
At The Sentry, Xander Schauffele caught attention for his change in attire. He has parted ways with adidas Golf and has now joined the luxury Japanese brand Descente. This move signifies a new chapter in his career.
Another player, Wolff, might also be considering a change in his equipment. With Bubba Watson’s longstanding association with PING, it wouldn’t be surprising if Wolff follows suit and starts using more PING gear in the future.
On a different note, there is still no update on Tiger Woods’ future partnership with Nike. Rumors have circulated that Nike was contemplating shutting down their entire golf division.
However, Woods made it clear during the PNC Championship in December that he is still loyal to the brand, firmly stating, “I’m still wearing their product,” when questioned by a reporter.
However, the recent decision by Day and Wolff to sever their connections with Nike implies that there may be some undisclosed developments taking place.
Apart from Woods, Nike’s primary brand representatives include Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Brooks Koepka, and Nelly Korda.
