LIV Golf star divorcing wife who wanted to see Rory McIlroy ‘punched in face’

Ashley Perez who once wanted to see Rory McIlroy get punched in the face, is filing for a divorce from husband Pat, who currently plays in LIV Golf for Dustin Johnson’s team.

Pat Perez and his wife Ashley have decided to go their separate ways, as confirmed by a recent filing for divorce at the Maricopa County Superior Court.

Both Pat and Ashley have taken down pictures of each other from their social media accounts. The initial filing took place in November, and Pat has since received additional documents related to the divorce.

Pat Perez, who is 47 years old, has a net worth of $13 million and is currently ranked 795th in the Official World Golf Rankings. It’s worth noting that his highest-ever ranking was 16th. Ashley gained recognition in the golf community for her enthusiastic support of Pat during his time on the PGA Tour and now in LIV Golf. She also made headlines for her comments directed at Rory McIlroy following the recent Ryder Cup.

In 2023, Team Europe reclaimed the Ryder Cup title from the Americans, and during the competition, McIlroy was involved in a heated exchange with Patrick Cantlay’s caddie, Joe LaCava, in a car park. Shane Lowry, McIlroy’s teammate, intervened to defuse the situation. However, Ashley Perez took to Instagram to express her true feelings towards McIlroy.

Pat Perez from Arizona and his family were naturally supporting Team America to retain their Ryder Cup success. However, when McIlroy clashed with Cantley, Ashley Perez expressed her thoughts on Instagram in a rather unconventional way. She wrote, “I can’t be the only one who would absolutely love to see Rory get punched in the face.

And I say that in the nicest way possible… sort of.” Ashley’s candidness on social media didn’t stop there.

In 2022, she also criticized golfing legend Tiger Woods after his car accident, bringing up his previous driving offenses. Following the accident, fans suggested that Woods should be allowed to use a golf cart due to his injuries.

However, Ashley didn’t sympathize with him. “That’s exactly why driving under the influence is ILLEGAL. I don’t feel sorry for him,” Perez commented on Instagram, while fans advocated for Woods to have access to a golf cart. “Thankfully, he didn’t harm anyone. Goodbye,” she concluded.

Pat Perez’s initial marriage came to an end through divorce prior to his encounter with Ashley during a dinner event in Las Vegas. Subsequently, the couple exchanged vows on New Year’s Eve in 2014 and are now parents to two children. While Pat still acknowledges his children on social media, any mention of Ashley is no longer publicly visible.

Although their divorce has not been finalized, it seems that Ashley’s filing has paved the way for a legal separation in 2024. Pat, having become a free agent, has recently re-signed with Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces for the upcoming 2024 season, following his involvement with LIV.
