Jason Day Joins Malbon Golf as Brand’s First PGA Tour Athlete

The Aussie could be the first in an exodus of pro golfers away from Nike.

In September, Hypegolf had a conversation with Erica Malbon from Malbon Golf. During the discussion, the co-founder expressed that her brand was actively seeking athletes to collaborate with on tour. These efforts have proven to be successful, as Malbon Golf has recently announced its first-ever PGA Tour ambassador. This ambassador happens to be none other than Jason Day, a former major champion and currently ranked 19th in the world.

This is a significant milestone for the lifestyle brand, which was founded by the LA couple Stephen and Erica Malbon in 2017. It signifies their expansion beyond their core streetwear and fashion following. Last year, Malbon made its initial foray into professional golf by signing up-and-comer Yealimi Noh from the LPGA Tour. However, with the addition of Jason Day, the brand now has a player under its umbrella who possesses a substantial global following. Day is not only highly regarded in the United States but also in his home country of Australia. In 2015, he briefly held the number 1 ranking in the world after winning the PGA Championship and four other tournaments.

Day departs Nike to join Malbon, adding weight to speculations that Nike is scaling back its involvement in the sportswear industry. In promotional images, the 35-year-old is spotted wearing trendy pieces from recent collections, such as The Course shoes and Malocchio Chino pants. Although the specifics of the agreement remain undisclosed, keep an eye out for further updates on this exciting development.
