Ferrari star announces split as coach makes stunning move to F1 rival

Carlos Sainz has paid tribute to his long-term performance coach who has parted ways with the Spaniard to team up with world champion Max Verstappen.

In late November, Bradley Scanes, Verstappen’s partner for four years, announced that he will no longer be a part of Formula 1. Verstappen has now teamed up with Rupert Manwaring for 2024, who is leaving the Sainz camp after eight years.

Given the demanding F1 schedule, races, and G-forces, it is crucial for drivers to maintain excellent physical and mental health. A significant part of their off-track life involves rigorous training with personal trainers, also known as performance coaches, to ensure they are in peak condition.

Now that the move has been formalized according to the original plan for Manwaring to join Verstappen after Christmas, Sainz has taken to social media to share some heartfelt words along with a video about his relationship with his former coach.

Sainz: Wishing Manwaring the best “Eight years cannot be summarized in just one video, but here is a glimpse of what it has meant,” Sainz wrote.

2023 marks the conclusion of Rupert Manwaring’s tenure with Team 55, and I am at a loss for words to express my gratitude for your unwavering commitment, hard work, and unwavering support throughout these years.

Together, we have not only undergone rigorous training but also fought side by side, united by a common purpose, and shared countless moments of joy and laughter along the journey.

Ruperto, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a bright and prosperous future ahead.
