Mets acquire RHP Adrian Houser, OF Tyrone Taylor from Brewers

The New York Mets acquired right-hander Adrian Houser and outfielder Tyrone Taylor from the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday in exchange for minor-league pitching prospect Coleman Crow.

“We are thrilled to welcome Adrian and Tyrone to our team,” expressed David Stearns, Mets president of baseball operations. “Tyrone brings a versatile skillset to our outfield group and excels in all three outfield positions. Adrian is an established starting pitcher in the major leagues, adding depth to our rotation and contributing valuable innings this year.”

Houser, aged 30, had an impressive 8-5 record with a 4.12 ERA in 23 games (21 starts) during the previous season.

Throughout his career with the Brewers, he holds a record of 31-34 with a 4.00 ERA in 129 games (97 starts). Taylor, aged 29, had a batting average of .234 with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs in 81 games last season with Milwaukee.

In his time with the Brewers, he has maintained a career batting average of .239 with 41 home runs and 136 RBIs in 331 games.

Crow, who will celebrate his 23rd birthday on December 30th, was acquired by New York on June 24th as part of the Eduardo Escobar trade with the Los Angeles Angels. Currently recovering from Tommy John surgery, which took place this past summer, he will not be pitching in 2024.

Crow posted a 15-6 record with a 4.33 ERA during three minor league seasons with the Mets and Angels.
