Phil Mickelson calls journalist ‘pathetic’ and ‘worst liar’ over Jon Rahm to LIV Golf rumours

Phil Mickelson attacked journalist Alan Shipnuck over rumors about Jon Rahm and LIV Golf.

World number three Rahm is in talks to move to the Saudi-backed Breakaway League in a deal worth £480 million, according to reports.

The Spaniard is close friends with LIV Golf star Mickelson, and the two golfers share the same agent.

Commenting on this rumor, Fire Pit Collective author Shipnuck says: “For the last few days, Phil has been telling people that Rahm and LIV’s deal is done. (They share the same agent.)

“But Mickelson is a persistent salesman/bull. We all know you’re an artist, so take it for what it’s worth.”

Mickelson’s infamous word “Saudi” was first reported by Shipnuck as “Horrible Mother*” was *****” when LIV was built in early 2022.

The journalist who published Mickleson’s unauthorized biography has since been snubbed by the six-time major champion.

In response to Shipnuck’s comments on Wednesday, Mickelson wrote: “That’s not true and I don’t know anything. I don’t want to know anything and I’m not saying anything. Alan is the worst liar and pathetic human being.”

Shipnuck doubled down and replied: “You think Phil tweeted me? He blocked me in the classic move, so I don’t know. But we all know that what he says publicly and what he says privately are “very” different.

But those in charge remain silent.
The 29-year-old, who is also close friends with LIV rebel Sergio Garcia, has been linked with the breakaway league several times over the past year.

In August, Rahm said on the Golf Shin Etiquette Podcast: I never liked that format.

“I always have a great time with Phil (Mickelson) and Sergio (Garcia) during the practice rounds for majors.

“Phil respects my decision and I respect his decision. He told me there was no reason to go to LIV. And he told me that many times..
